The six degrees of separation

The Chinese have a saying "the centre of everybodies universe is the bridge of their nose". From this logic one persons 'acceptable collateral damage' is another persons 'innocent victim of excessive force'.

No preconditions I think not.
SHARE More Sharing
Mr Netanyahu claims himself willing to enter into negotiations without precondition. This is a clear negotiating sham. As if the presence of 500,000 Israelis living illegaly on Occupied Land is not a precondition. He himself recently stated "Any unilateral action would only unravel the framework of agreements between us" sounds like preconditions to me.

Why Israel generates so much interest!
SHARE More Sharing
Many people argue that it is unfair that Israel's actions generate what seems to be a disproportionate amount of criticism, such people fail to appreciate two things: Europe with the holocaust and the US with its veto have condoned illegal settlements and thus rendered themselves complicit in Israels illegal actions and Israel is on the fault line between the Islamic and Judeo-Christian world.

"Israel disputes this" no it doesn't
SHARE More Sharing
Most comments in the media about settlement construction in the occupied territories which state the settlements are illegal under international law end with comment "Israel disputes this". Whilst this may be true of settlements in East Jeruselem which Israel has annexed, this is simply not true for settlements in the West Bank which Israel hasn't annexed.

Goldman Sachs and the behavior of the 'Rescued'
SHARE More Sharing
What behaviour do we expect from the rescued? My personal experience is that the rescued are intially embarassed. Then they want to get on with life. Only later might they reflect on any duty they may owe their rescuer. But what can we expect from somebody who has learnt that the correct role of other people is to serve them.

Rupert Murdoch and Hipocrisy
SHARE More Sharing
Rupert Murdoch is a born-again Christian and is building a stable of hard-core porn channels for its BSkyB subsidiary. Given that It is a widely held view that Rupert Murdoch abandoned his Australian Citizenship when it got in the way of his business interests,it would be interesting to see which way he would jump if forced to choose between the profits from porn and his born-again Chistianity.

Value Wars

Small towns have the luxury of 'My way or the highway'. If 'they' don't want you to live in their town you probably don't want to live there either. Such a black and white approach is a luxury the world cannot afford.

Corporate governance - Village the missing V
SHARE More Sharing
In order to make corporate governance more proactive rather than merely compliance driven, best practice encourages boards to set mission, vision and values. This diary suggests there is a missing V for 'Village' which focuses boards attention on identifying and managing key allies as well as stakeholders, political and community relationships

Soldiers criminal jail, President criminals White House

Now that President Bush has admitted being aware of Torture committee, will the soldiers who were tried, found guilty and jailed for 'spontaneously' committing torture be retried? I was only following orders is not a defence but it sure is a mitigating factor.
