Here's what is appealing about the Ron Paul campaign: the issues are spelled out with a minimum amount of bullcookies. Oh, it's still there... like "...leading advocate for freedom," well hell yes- isn't everybody? Is any politician going to advocate "tyranny?" The "Democrats" on the issues and the "R epublicans" on the issues: sort it out for yourself according to your priorities. Maybe Ron Paul just has a better web design than McCain. But here is McCain on the "issues," and here is Paul
Oh yeah... there's Clinton and Obama as well.
Simplistic as it is, if you must arrange the "issues" in a linear hierarchy, Energy is the main issue. Argue the ins-and-outs of this, but anyone who thinks "Terrorism" is a greater issue than Energy needs to hire a proctologist to help them find their brain. Anyone who thinks "Abortion" is a greater issue than Energy HAS no brain.
What's Ron Paul's position on Energy?
Any source that truly is cheaper and cleaner, yet still reliable, will not need government help to develop or sell.
This sounds like warmed-over Reagan crap to me. "Will not need government help" is the exact reason Ronzo cut the subsidies out from under solar, wind and geothermal energy 20 years ago. That worked out well, didn't it? And that brings us to the "code words."
Here we go again with: "limited constitutional government and free markets." "Free markets" (whatever that means) has been a stellar success, hasn't it? The foxes submitted the lowest bid for the henhouse-guarding job ("agenda?"), so let's hire them. Can you say, "Enron?" Sure you can!
Paul's concept of economics is precisely equal to my knowledge of delivering babies: smoke cigarettes, walk in a circle, and "they" will show you the results! Fact is, the Paulitos are the "new conservatives" (code-word) since "neo-conservative" has become such a sh*t-stain of corruption and incompetence (and it should be). Perhaps the Paulites are trying to repackage the same failed policies that have us now on the brink of an unavoidable depression and possibly a world war.
"Free-market economy" is the line in the sand. But expecting "liberal" politicians to come up with a viable alternative is like asking your dog to remove a brain tumor. Fido only wants a biscuit. That's another code-word: "statist." and "nanny government." I would submit that the Paulitos only want "lower taxes," which will be moot once they have no income. Once again, Paulitos:
You aint fooling anybody.
