But they have!
They sent our men to war in Iraq with "what they had, not what they wanted" thanks to that paragon of asking and answering his own questions, former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, a bright, droll man more suited to stand-up saterical comedy [he sure gave us a lot of laughs through a sea of heartache and tears] than war stra'tee'gery.
They were sent to a lie-based war under-equipped, undermanned, unstratagized, and with no idea of the historical significance of the region, the mind-set of its people and regional influences.
As if the following weren't hellacious examples of the lack of respect the government has for our fighting men and women weren't bad enough, what follows is the worst.
* Cutting veterans benfits...
* Not allowing photos to be taken of flag-draped coffins...
* Soldiers scavenging through garbage for scraps of metal to up-armoring vehicles...
* Not allowing willing family to pay for and provide proper vests and helmets...
* Making them jump through red-taped hoops to get medical treatment...
* Squalid conditions at Walter Reed's out-patient living quarters...
* Never considering post traumatic stress syndrome would be an overwhelming problem...
* Seeing to it that the grunts paid the price for officers' orders at Abu Ghraib...
* Unmercifully extending tours of duty...
* Ditto, the number of tours to be served...
