TALKING WITH-- 11 remarkable women. 11 magical journeys. 11 mesmerizing actresses

Message Press Release
A young woman tests her Christian faith by handling poisonous snakes. A baton twirler sees the face of Jesus 30 feet in the air. A destitute woman wants to live in McDonald's, where the sick are cured by Big Macs and no one ever dies. A housewife escapes to Oz every day.

These are just a few of the stories in Talking With . . . by Jane Martin, a unique collection of 11 monologues by 11 marvellous characters, who come together in an unforgettable theatrical event, June 21-30 at the Ottawa Little Theatre, 400 King Edward Avenue (at Rideau).

They make us laugh and they make us think. And even when their challenges and crises appear larger than life, the characters embody universal issues: unbearable loneliness, crises of confidence, bereavement, loss of hope and struggles with faith.

Ottawa's CanPlay Productions has brought together 11 of the city's finest actresses (we'll release their names once their contracts have been signed!) for the theatre event of the season, a fully professional production of Talking With . . . that runs for 11 performances only.

Producer Barbara Crook reviewed the first Ottawa production of Talking With . . . , directed by Janet Irwin, for The Ottawa Citizen in November 1985. Twenty years later, when she was looking for a fabulous play for her first Ottawa production - after producing and partnering in two Off-Broadway productions in New York - Barbara decided to rekindle her love affair with the play and its characters. And there was only one choice to direct: Janet Irwin, who had made that first production so memorable.

Check out the rest of our site to find out more about the play, Jane Martin and some of the stories behind this production. And don't miss out on the theatre event of the season. Tickets are $18-25, available through the Ottawa Little Theatre Box Office, 233-8948.

If you have a question that's not answered on the web site, feel free to contact producer Barbara Crook at 613- 238-0933, or by email, tickets@talkingwith.ca.
