Meeting in Chicago, beginning Thursday, Aug. 17.
The Arizona State Democratic Party passed a resolution
last February, that they will be presenting to the
full conference in Chicago. They are proposing that
the Party establish an internet site, available to the
Party organization down to the precinct level, that
will record- and coordinate response to- incidents of
vote suppression and election fraud. It will also
have a strong education component to prepare Democrats
for election monitoring, poll watching, etc.
Here is the AZ Resolution:
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED Arizona Democratic Party
recommends that the Democratic National Committee
establish an Election Integrity Information
Clearinghouse and database within the DNC to
coordinate and mobilize a national action network to
defeat the erosion of public oversight of elections
caused by priv ate vendor control. The Arizona
Democratic Party recommends that states set up
Election Integrity Committees based on the Arizona
model to:
to more than one state and share that information
quickly through the network.
Quickly detect changing tactics and technological
exploits that threaten election integrity/security and
abuse voting rights.
Hold regional or targeted problem area summits by
phone and internet that assemble the best legal,
technical and government professionals to educate
party leaders and activists on how to improve skills
to evaluate election systems.
I believe that this effort is long overdue. It will
be a major victory for election integrity activists if
the DNC makes election integrity a strategic goal.
The DNC must organize and prepare to address the
well-funded efforts to suppress the Democratic vote.
This cannot wait another day.
Arizona Democrats need the support of other states, at
the Conference, to secure passage and implementation
of this Resolution.
