Let's help each other out.
I promise not to mention
Nuclear proliferation
If you agree not to bring up Climate Change.

And I won't mention ubiquitous racial inequity
If you won't rant about the chasm between
The very rich and the poor.

I will not harp on Donald Trump's
Psychotic tendencies
If you promise not to mention fracking anymore.

I will say nothing of how the Republican Party
Is dismantling what is left of the constitution
If you keep quiet about gun violence.

I won't talk about the locating of landfills
Where they will soon be underwater
If you say nothing about Corporate greed
And pandemic exploitation of nonrenewable resources.

Burning of the rainforest? Not happening
As far as I'm concerned
But you have to agree not to remind me
That Americans are still buying gas-guzzling cars and trucks.

Health care system broken beyond repair?
I'm over it. But what about heavy metals
Poisoning tap water in public schools?
Don't even go there.

Just get out of Mudville!
Keep your own nose clean.
Look the other way.
We'll make it.
