It is my opinion that the shutdown of our government is an act of hostage taking by the parties responsible for closing it down.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: A hostage is a person or entity which is held by one of two belligerent parties to the other or seized as security for the carrying out of an agreement.

The United States makes hostage-taking a federal criminal offense pursuant to 18 U.S.C.-1203. International Convention Against the Taking of Hostages, G.A. Res. 146 (XXXIV), U.N. GAOR, 34th Sess., Supp. No. 46, at 245, U.N. Doc. A/34/46 (1979), was entered into force June 3, 1983.

Any person who seizes or detains and threatens to kill, to injure or to continue to detain another person (hereinafter referred to as the "hostage") in order to compel a third party, namely, a State, an international intergovernmental organization, a natural or juridical person, or a group of persons, to do or abstain from doing any act as an explicit or implicit condition for the release of the hostage commits the offense of taking of hostages

In accordance with International law this must be considered a criminal act.  I am therefore putting said parties on notice that a citizens arrest should be considered imminent. The sad truth is that as an ordinary citizen in middle America, I do NOT have the authority to arrest members of Congress.

However:

" I do have the right to voice my distaste of their act of hostage taking.

" I have the right to say that I think they should be arrested or at the very least considered under the Patriot Act  as those committing an act of terrorism (Section 802 of the USA PATRIOT Act (Pub. L. No. 107-52) expanded the definition of terrorism to cover --domestic,-- as opposed to international, terrorism - if the act appears to be intended to: (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion). https://www.aclu.org/national-security/how-usa-patriot-act-redefines-domestic-terrorism

" I fear that they may use these tactics to resolve all of their agendas in future and I say NO! That is not acceptable.

The point I am trying to make with this is that the shutting down  of our government in order to get their way is nothing more and nothing less then holding it hostage. They can not be allowed to do this. If a really bad person came into our country and then went to our capital and at some point held our government hostage we would  not cheer them on.  It would not matter if we agreed with the reasoning behind why they did it. We would throw the full force of the law their way. We might even send them to Guantanamo Bay.
