Let's tell the truth. If reducing taxes actually helped anyone's economic position other than the rich, if Milton Friedman's system actually worked, we would--after the George W. Bush tax cuts--be in the middle of the greatest period of prosperity in American history. Instead the tax cuts since the Reagan Administration have resulted in the transfer of twenty percent of our nation's wealth to the top one percent of our population in the last thirty years.
Trickle down economics do not work. They have never worked. The only thing I know of that trickles down, involves a loss of bladder control.
We must once again become that "we" nation. We must return to the ideals of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal and Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. We must reinforce Social Security, expand Medicare and Medicaid so that they become Medicare for Everyone. Public Education should be free through the university's doctoral level. Our Financial, Insurance, and Real Estate industries must be regulated to prevent the speculation that causes so much harm to the public's welfare. New manufacturing must be established, unions strengthened, large corporations regulated and controlled, including anti-trust laws.
But most of all, the laws, regulations, and court decisions of our nation's governmental institutions must from this moment forward always favor the little guy over the giant, heartless, artificial creations of humanity, the corporation.
It's as simple as A-B-C--Always Be Compassionate.
