Especially in the wake of the Fukushima reactor disaster, many people are wondering if we have passed the point of no return, damaging the biosphere and the gene pool beyond repair. Our species seems to be hopelessly greedy and stupid. Some say humans are a plague on the planet, and it would be better for us to become extinct.
Many others are saying this is the turning point, the signal to scrap nuclear reactors and weapons, and rev up the use of green sustainable energy. Germany is leading the way, closing down its nuclear plants.
Where do we find the hope, the energy, the spirit, to keep fighting for life?
I've taken great comfort and guidance from Deut. 30: 19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live...
To be or not to be, that is the question.
The Creator of life, speaking through the Bible prophets, tells us to choose life. Working for survival of our children and their children puts us in harmony with Creator's will.
Bible prophecies have been horribly misrepresented by the "rapture cult", a group of right-wing churches who grew very powerful in the last decade. George Lakoff, in "Don't Think of an Elephant", has detailed how the plot to join these churches to the Republican Party, and conduct psychological warfare against the American people, was cooked up in right-wing think tanks in the 70's.
Briefly, the rapture cult states that its adherents will be "raptured" to Jesus in a cloud, and nonadherents will be "left behind" to perish in a fiery nuclear holocaust. Before this happens, adherents have dispensation to do whatever they please, because they are "saved" by their beliefs. They will be "blessed" with material prosperity, and will achieve "dominion" over secular states.
