I have a great deal of admiration for Governor/Secretary Richardson and trust he will do all he can to move our nation forward. There are two things I can think of that I know will help the economic situation. One is to help the people first who are in drowning in debt and can't get out. People are losing their homes, job, and health care. The answers is not to bail out the big businesses, but to bail out the persons who owe the money to big business. Example: the person who gets the loans for the credit cards, the car, and the home, and then for some reason loses their job and all the income that was coming into there home suddenly stops, or they have been scammed into loans they could not afford. These are the people that should be helped, and by helping these people the big business will also be helped. This is one form of building from the bottom up. Why bail out businesses when the people are still suffering so much?
The second thing that should be done is for all the businesses that gave loans to people who should not have gotten them need to be tough, a lesson and punished, even if it means for them to be put out of business. No one should have a slap on the hand because they need to pay, and the person that got scammed should keep the home paid in full, because these people have children; it was their dream to have a home for their children and the children should not suffer in any case. My husband and I have a home and we
did a lot of research before we bought our home, and we didn't make that mistake or get caught in a scam, we were blessed, but I feel sorry for the people who did and I'm angry.

The automobile industry will need to leave behind their mindset and begin to think outside the box. The brightest minds in our country have been working on alternative forms of energy and the technology is there. Once the auto industry takes up the green mantle, other industries will soon follow. This will lead to economic growth and new jobs, as well as improving living standards for everyone.
Change never comes easy and I'm sure many backward-thinking ideologues will balk at the drastic changes that our country must take. But if anyone can lead our country in this direction, it's Obama. Not only is our country depending on environmentally sound technology; the greening of America is vital if planet earth has any chance of survival.
