- G4S (formerly Wackenhut Corrections)
- Wal-Mart
This list is but an example of the types of member corporations. Most of the energy/oil companies are members, as are the insurance corporation, communications, and banking firms. (For a more extensive listing of corporations, trade groups, and law firms, Click Here)
A sampling of the trade groups represented:
- American Bankers Association
- American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity
- Association of Health Insurance Agents
- Health Insurance Association of America
- PhRMA
This sampling of groups ought to give some insights on how we have had recent legislation passed favoring these industries. It might also suggest why President Obama has long been pushing for clean coal electricity. With this organization being far right leaning it might raise some questions as to just where Obama does sit on the political spectrum. He also favors such things as Charter Schools and profitized schools which is high on the agenda of ALEC. His apparent eagerness to drastically alter Social Security and Medicare may also be indicators of his true allegiance as they have long been targets of this organization, but have been unsuccessful with politicians calling themselves Republican. Is Obama their new strategy? The "Trojan Horse" candidate who comes in as a Democrat, but fully supports the Right-Wing agenda. Is that why the cast of Republican candidates is so weak? So their true candidate can be re-elected.
The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is an organization that must be closely watched if we are to regain our Democracy and voters ought to be aware of candidates who adhere to this group's agenda as in the nearly 40 years of its existence not a single bill has been offered by them that has favored the average citizen. It is a group that is definitely not for promoting Democracy and a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
