Chaos theory states that everything affects everything else. God is not some external agent operating from a transcendent heaven. What we do to the Earth is what we do to ourselves. Thus, our sense of alienation is simply our failure to know who we are in relationship to the greater whole. Everything is here for everything else; ergo, you are here for everything and everything is here for your sake.
That is the message of Christ: His birth, life and death are for the sake of all. Likewise, we are now called to realize: Our birth, life and death are for the sake of all life on Earth. We serve Earth and Earth serves us in ever revolving, evolving ways.
