* allowing
only a tiny and partial restoration of the pre-Bush
* appointing two Supreme Court justices who were both to the right of the justices they replaced, putting them into a Supreme Court that was already weighted more to the Right, and therefore against the populace, than any Court since the early 1930s;
* encouraging the militarization of the police forces around the country, turning the country into even more of a police state than the previous four presidents had managed to do.
In addition to all this, Obama approved the torture of Bradley Manning, and reserved the right of the CIA to rendition and torture on its own initiative and judgment. And by going after Wikileaks, the president undermined our sacred freedom of the press. He also allowed military trials (in blatantly unfair kangaroo courts) for "terrorist masterminds" who had to be extensively tortured in order to get their "confessions," which were then, preposterously, used in court! Just as bad, he pronounced Bradley Manning guilty, in advance of his indictment, used the Espionage Act of 1917 (which carries a potential death penalty) to intimidate exposers of secrecy and recipients of the information, and has agreed to a damaging tax increase on the middle class [i.e. the lifting of the partial waiver on FICA] . . in the middle of the Great Recession!
What some people are calling "the greatest president ever" looks, upon careful examination, to be more like one of the most amoral scumbags ever, in an office and a degenerated political system that is now essentially designed to accommodate and encourage amoral scumbaggery.
