What if we moved beyond "either -- or" and enter into a "both -- and" universe that, by definition, would not discount "either -- or" but would place it in the larger context of "both -- and." It has to be this way for to say the universe is "both --and" necessitates an "either -- or" dichotomy.
In other words, what if we lived in a universe in which the "yes and the no" of this argument were two sides of one coin? Perhaps our wars and our theoretical and political debates could be seen as basically two sides of the same coin fighting each other. At this point, "love thy enemy as thyself" becomes more than a statement of nicety that is hardly ever followed by the religious practitioners that worship the God-Man that said it.
Interestingly, it appears that once we get past our limited self and into the Unlimited, we truly loose our ego and begin to see all peoples as our brothers and sisters. On an even more profound level, we see all peoples, creatures, plants and, indeed, every star and planet in the universe as manifestations of the Self. On this earthly level, this is important in all arenas. For example, if a Christian is not able to see in the Muslim his own face, then he will not be able to advance his Soul. Why? Simply because he can't get a hold on who he is. Point your finger at the screen and say "you're a fool." See the three fingers coming back at yourself? Is this an accident of design? Or is it a teaching?
Now, point your finger at a politician and say, "you need to fix this mess!" Yes, you have a finger pointed at him as you speak. But where are the other fingers actually pointed? Is this in blame or is it in empowerment? Why stay imprisoned to the external when the power is within? But do beware (be aware), your pointing towards the powers inward is going to anger those that want you to keep the finger pointed outwards.
