This can be immediate action, and because it's grassroots and inter-group, Congress can't pick on any specific organization, either. Nor will there be any bureaucratic holdups, or fratricidal argumentation.
Already, the polls show over half the country favors impeaching Bush,
and probably even more want to impeach Cheney, too. Impeachment isn't a stand-alone issue, either. It's something folks are already rallying over. More half of us Americans!! And the pols know if impeachment proceeds it'll bring in a new Congress- that's unavoidable.
What we can do right now, is have environmentalists join the impeachment movement through a grassroots effort.
The impeachment movement is skyrocketing. A friend of mine, Robert Smith, is running for Congress on the Green ticket in the Bible belt in Tennessee. The incumbent, a troglodyte Repug, is so entrenched that the Dems aren't running anyone against him. Smith is finding that over 90% of the people in his district want impeachment. He may well win. It's the same all over the country.
Put yourself in the position of the Bush-ites. You know you don't want to lose Congress- you have to maintain control. All of a sudden, you see millions of environmentalist pooling their efforts together with to the already mushrooming impeachment movement. You know once these groups unite, you're done. You've got to find a way to break up the alliance.
The only sensible option you have, since you're not about to step down, is to try driving the environmentalists off your trail by tossing us a bone. That bone will be backing off the sale of the national forests. That's all they've got. Their only good choice, if we put it to them like that. We have to take advantage of their vulnerability at this time.
But that doesn't mean we have to let them off the hook. It's just what they'll feel they have to do. But no, this time they went too far. Now that we're up in arms and united, we'll still get rid of them in the next election, and it's about time.
Now, go out and show you really love Mother Earth. Get rid of your gloom. Get rid of your sense of helplessness in the face of this monster. And call all your friends. We can't afford to let this go on. Our forests can't let it go on.
P. S. Even if they don't back off, once we put in a Congress that supports the environment, we can use the public right of eminent domain to overturn these sales. If they won't listen to us before the election, then we must change the Congress, and use eminent domain to revoke any contracts made by this illegal government, all the way back to 2000, when they stole the first election.
We'll get our forests back if we work together with the rest of the country. If enough of us get stirred up, even the Ents will come to our aid. Won't that be a sight!
