At his best, I am inspired by Obama. It would be nice to be inspired for a change. but he really hasn't got any concrete plans to solve our problems that I've heard. But perhaps we all need inspiration, in these dire times we face.
John Edwards voices the problems of the poor and struggling masses in our country, but they don't vote; he also offers no real solution, and quite frankly, a man who pays $400 for a haircut, yet criticizes CEOs for their exorbitant salaries, seems somewhat hypocritical. But then, like Alice, I'm supposed to believe six impossible things before breakfast!
Dennis Kucinich mainly addresses the healthcare issue. And he's against the Iraq war. But he offers very few solutions to our other problems. And, despite his absolutely gorgeous wife, I don't see people wanting to vote for a pint-sized candidate, who resembles a garden gnome. (Sorry Dennis! Your heart's in the right place, and your lovely wife obviously thinks you're cool, but the great American public would rather vote for Brittany Spears just because of her looks, before they'd vote for you!)
So, what can we do? The people who are running for office have no plans (or if they do, they won't tell us) They seem not to address the real issues facing us. (Except Ron Paul, but he doesn't offer the solutions).
I feel as though our problems are so overwhelming (our debt; the dollar's collapse; the price of oil; the collapse of manufacturing; the growing discrepancy between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots'; the crumbling infrastructure; the collapse of housing, and the credit crunch; the coming debt time bomb; the catastrophe of global warming and pollution; the very real possibility of a perfect storm: the collapse of the dollar; rampant inflation; a shrinking economy; economic collapse and maybe even the complete inability to sell our government bonds anymore to the Chinese to finance out disastrous borrowing.) And NOBODY seems to have a real plan!
Perhaps we have the government, and the candidates we deserve. If so, God help us all!
