The Assault on You by the Private Equity Firms

But more generally, as more and more companies are being eviscerated by these vulture private equity managers and more and more Americans find themselves unemployed or underemployed at stagnant or substantially lower wages, as the falling dollar makes everyday goods more and more expensive to the point of unaffordable whacha gonna do? 

Then, nothing we’ll be able to do. Now, however we’ve not yet reached the point of no return. First of all we have to inform ourselves and our associates of the genuine peril that’s just over the horizon. That may mean turning off the episode of whatever that mindless fluff it is that’s on the television, and devoting the time to some basic research on the fundamentals of macro-economics.

Second, we can follow the recommendations of Mr. Bogle and AARP and others: regardless of party affiliation, make sure your US representative and senator knows that you know what the hell is going on, then insist he or she stress financial accountability in the government and private accountability and strict federal oversight of the private equity companies.
