Big Business, together with the entire Republican
Party, is most interested in regaining their former wealth and power, and is
not interested in you, your family, your job, your rights and freedoms, your
health, your financial well-being or your desire to improve your life and that
of your children.
Mitt Romney, the GOP and Big Business want what is
known as "unregulated free market capitalism." They want to get rid of all regulations that get
in the way of their goal: to enrich
their companies and themselves, at the expense of our country, of American
workers and of our environment (air, land, water and climate).
In order to do this they want to "privatize" all
government programs -- so they can control and "profitize" those programs for
themselves. They want to privatize
health care by doing away with Medicare, privatize Social Security, privatize
the entire school system, privatize libraries, privatize prisons, privatize our
national parks, privatize our private forests, privatize our hunting lands, privatize
our border patrol, etc. Do you remember
when garbage pick-up was covered by your taxes?
Now you pay a private company every month for that service. You may not know that highways are even being
"leased" to other countries so we Americans will eventually have to pay "tolls"
to drive on what once was ours, what once was paid for by our taxes.
In order to
maximize their profits, Big Business and the wealthy want to avoid paying their
fair share of taxes, or avoid paying taxes altogether. Every single Republican opposed ending Bush's
tax-cuts to the rich. Every single
Republican voted against raising taxes a small amount on incomes over
one million a year (not on the first million).
Every single Republican refused to get rid of billion dollar subsidies to
the oil companies. Many companies hide
their profits overseas to avoid paying taxes.
Many wealthy folks do too. Mitt
Romney, who is worth over a quarter-billion dollars, has money stashed in
Switzerland and the Cayman Islands. Why
do you think he won't show his tax returns?
There are so many loopholes for the wealthy that huge companies like
General Electric pay zero taxes. Many
pay their CEOs larger annual bonuses than they pay taxes.
The other thing the GOP wants to do is eliminate as
many regulations as they can, because they get in the way of making huge
profits. That is why they want to
eliminate The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which protects our land,
air and water). They fought against
Obama establishing a Consumer Financial Protection Agency that protects us from
abuse by credit card companies, banks, etc.
The Republican Party has fought for years against
American workers: to get rid of unions,
worker safety regulations, Child Labor laws, the 40 hour week, overtime pay,
Workers Compensation, Unemployment benefits.
Big Business is doing away with pensions, severance pay, vacation pay,
sick pay, pregnancy leaves --even 3 day funeral leaves. If hasn't happened to you yet, it will. And your kids won't even know that workers
once even had those rights and benefits.
Mitt Romney says that he knows how to run a business,
and that President Obama doesn't. Romney
started Bain Capital, a company that took over other companies, loaded them
with debt, used the workers' pension funds as collateral, then either filed for
Bankruptcy -- stealing the workers' pensions -- or he split the companies up
and sold them in pieces, or he shipped the companies to other countries like
China and Mexico so he could make larger profits by paying their workers
peanuts, eliminating benefits and avoiding labor laws. What he did was all "legal" but rotten. It is called "vulture Capitalism" Other GOP Presidential candidates even
condemned it.
Romney's company, Bain Capital, bought a company in
Freeport, Illinois, that made electronic sensors for automobiles. Last year it
earned record profits. This year it is very profitable. The employees, who are not unionized, earn
$17.00 an hour. Romney's company came in
and told the workers that they were going to lose their jobs (and pensions)
because Romney was going to be relocate the company to China. To add insult to injury, they were told they
had to train the Chinese workers to do the jobs that they were losing. A female employee who works there and was
interviewed by the media, said that the company even took down the American
flag while the Chinese workers were being trained. She said they were told that "the rope
broke." Once the Chinese workers left
after finishing their training the American flag went back up the flagpole.
The company is closing its doors on November 5,
2012. The machinery is being shipped to
China. The workers will be cast aside to
fend for themselves. GOP
Vice-Presidential candidate Paul Ryan admires the teachings of the late Ayn
Rand, who encouraged a philosophy of selfishness, in which people should look
out only for them-selves and not be concerned about the well-being of
others. Survival of the fittest. "Social Darwinism," as some people came to
call it. So the American workers are
being cast aside. (By the way, when Ms.
Rand developed Cancer in her old age she decided to change her mind, and
accepted Medicare for herself.)
The Chinese workers won't be making $17.00 an hour
in China. They will be paid 99 cents an
hour. They will be working 12 hour
shifts, and they will be allowed one day off a month. When Romney was confronted about outsourcing
American jobs to countries like China,
he said with a straight face that he wasn't outsourcing them; he was
"off-shoring" them.
A common strategy of Mitt Romney and the GOP is to
accuse President Obama and the Democrats of doing whatever they are quietly
doing themselves. That is why Romney is
now loudly accusing Obama of letting American companies, like Jeep, move to
China. This open lie has been denied by Jeep and the media.
Regarding foreign policy, 17 of Romney's 21
advisers are Bushites and he's eager to start a costly war with Iran. Obama killed bin Laden. He is considered the most respected world
leader by other countries.
Lastly, the silly rumors about Obama not being an
American citizen, being a Muslim, being gay, having a secret plan with the U.N.
to take away your guns, that he wears a ring that says, "God is dead" are just
plain silly. However, one thing is
true: Barack Obama is Black. If voting for a Black person bothers you more
than the future well-being of your children, then vote for Mitt Romney.
