That is an
abdication and dereliction of their duties. It is wholly unacceptable,
it is an affront to the citizenry. It is an admission that our leaders
no longer know how to row the boat and would rather cast millions into
the sea to lighten their burden. We aren't talking about palmetto bugs,
but people, human beings. American people, men, women and children and
they need help. If the government can't or won't do something about it
then it's time for that government to go.
You see, there is no other purpose for government other than the maintenance and well being of the populace. No government or country has ever raised itself out of economic depression through budget cutting alone. The Federal government has set the states adrift to take an ax to their own people while the politicos smile for photographs. So remember what that old man said as he was dragged from the room to be manacled and jailed for the crime of standing silently. "This is America!"
Your government has turned on you, it is attempting to make you the scapegoat for all this countries ills. It has declared war upon you and upon your children. It has set about on a course to crush you and to make you servile. Forget about parties, the parties are dead. Forget about foreign wars, the war is here. If you want to stop the foreign wars you must first win the war at home. If you wish to save the environment you must first win the war at home. The coal which is too dirty to burn in this country is exported to China under the name of mineral resources.
The Gulf oil spill, the foreclosure crisis, free trade, falling wages, the environment, the economy, Fox News, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, the tea party all come from the same source. There is a purpose for these things. To slice away from your life a thin slice of prosperity, day by day and to leave you with the nub. To leave you hungry, cold and poor so that stock portfolios can fatten and bonuses can rise. Another Mercedes Benz in the driveway and a summer home in the Hamptons.
When old men get dragged away and manacled for the
crime of standing in silent protest and when state workers must protest
to retain the right of collective bargaining. When the government builds
schools in Pakistan and builds infrastructure in Mexico to facilitate
the moving of jobs, then all talk of freedom at home is fallacious. It
becomes Pollyannaish to speak of political parties when the dye was cast
long ago and you must prepare yourself for the storm. Understand that
those workers and all workers are your friends, your brothers and
sisters.
Understand that the tyrants of the dollar plan to slowly weaken you until you no longer have the power to resist. Understand that you mustn't pick up a gun but face down the guns, to strip the powerful of their moral authority after which time they will lose their actual authority. No one can say how long it will take and only a fool would make vain promises about valor and glory, but it has begun. The battle for America's soul is beginning and you have the opportunity to take part. You will decide whether that old man was right or the thugs were right. "This is America!"
