Well, how did a poor uneducated (dumb) rural white American in 1930 buy into the idea of being superior to 'sub-human' American blacks? It was actually easy. It took his relentlessly gnawing burden away and gave him a fantasy to walk around in. Reality is a cold, hard place to live when things are chronically not going your way, death is waiting for you at the end of the road, and someone who seems to have some power and position in life is whispering sweet lies in your ear. Now you might say that the Muslim man and woman responsible for the San Bernardino tragedy were not poor uneducated people. Well, that depends on how you define poor and uneducated. A person is educated in proportion as the ideal does not recede toward the horizon in the intensifying situational reality.
Why did 'educated' middle-class Americans buy into the Viet Nam war that was a big-boss lie from beginning to end and brought truly hellish suffering to so many people? (Sleepwalkers hiding the bloody hands of complicity). Why did Americans buy into the Iraq war which was a big-boss lie from beginning to end (which has not yet come) and has brought hellish suffering to countless people? (Hiding the bloody hands of complicity). Why did they buy it? Because it took away their burden. What burden? The burden of having to face the world as it actually is and not as the air-conditioned consumer mall sweetly whispers fantasy descriptions of it in their corrupted ears.
The superiority of any one human group over another is quite a relative and hair-slender thing in this world. Civilization is a horde of poor uneducated creatures that can't stop fighting with each other regardless of how deadly the fighting becomes. Was WWI followed by peace? No, it was followed by WWII. Was Viet Nam followed by peace (acquired wisdom looking for meaningful activity)? No, it was followed by Iraq. The ideal keeps receding toward the vanishing horizon. Big Bosses keep telling sweet comforting lies.
And now here we are on the verge of global again, dripping with the slime of sweet lies.
If you want to stop terrorism then you have to stop the Terror that no one wants to even talk about. You can't do it with force of arms because the root of Terror is the fear of reality itself and the desire to live in fantasy. You have to stop this fear of the world as it actually is. Us, as we actually are. This fear turns all humans into dangerous ignorant creatures. Why are we so afraid of each other? Because we are dangerous ignorant creatures. We aren't trust worthy. There's no escape. We're just poor uneducated savages in fancy skins telling ourselves lies about ourselves. Why should we trust each other?
What if this San Bernardino terrorist couple had come to you and said , Help us, we are going to murder people because we are afraid of the world as it is. What would you have said to them? I don't mean who would you have sent them to or what authorities would you have reported them to, I mean what would YOU have said to them? YOU would probably have said nothing to them because YOU don't have an answer to their question: How do I face the world as it actually is and say: No man is an island" Any man's death diminishes me" Any man's corruption vitiates me" The bell tolls for me.
You can fear and hate and kill all the terrorists in the world and it won't stop Terror or the return of terrorism. It's in your blood. It's in your reality. And there is no place to go except reality. The world as it is.
No man is your boss if you don't want him to be. Truth is the only place safe from terror. What is Truth?
No man is an island.
My article is impractical in exact proportion as the world fears itself as it is. When was the last time you contacted a stranger in Russia, or any other country for that matter, and said, Hi, I was just wondering how you were doing. I hope you are well. It gets lonely and even frightening looking at the so distant horizon. Why don't we get together?
For poor uneducated savages TRUTH IS TERRORISM.
