Most of these changes sound like a call for socialism. They are not. The heart of the capitalist system could, and should, be maintained to allow for new enterprises and to ensure free and unrestrained markets. The measures listed above would, in the long run, redress the imbalance underlying today's working class dissatisfaction. If applied, such measures would increase confidence in the economic system and faith in the future. Achieving these ideals is clearly difficult, if not impossible, in today's environment. They should however, represent targets to shoot for. The more these objectives are discussed, the more progress can be made in the right direction.
We don't need more uncontrolled mini-revolutions similar to those being instigated by the election of Mr. Trump. What we need is to start thinking about broader and more peaceful ways to address our glaring inequalities. The alternative is continued unrest and dissatisfaction with the government and with the elites that will in time lead to revolution. History is full of examples of bloody revolutions of the working classes against their masters. That would not be good for anybody.
