The time is coming very soon, days/weeks not months, when the next collective Pakistani people and international community decision on the Pakistani Presidency will be a classic example of choosing between the lesser of two evils. Strong arm (military) "control" (stability) or continued "chaotic" country destabilization and collapse (i.e. status quo civilian rule) and militant control.
So place your bets folks on this looming violent Pakistani power shift. The smart money, whether you love him or hate him is on Musharraf, the comeback kid, ascending to the throne again either immediately following Zardari or post a very short term Sharif Presidency. It’s not clear even savvy “bulldozer” U.S. Afghan/Pakistan Special Representative Richard Holbrooke gets that. In this author’s opinion, he does not.
And even sweeter for Musharraf, given the raging animosity between he and Sharif and disdain for each other, would be succeeding Sharif, as he did once before.
Even Yogi would agree, in Pakistan, its déjà vu all over…..again. Game on….again.
