The solution: Close Guantanamo. Until then, stop force feeding prisoners.
We should recognize the basic inhumanity of profound fear and helplessness and work to eliminate it. By according priority to these causes of terror, we can bring greater peace to our people and planet. As Charles Blow wrote in his New York Times op-ed "A Lesson Before Dying":
"Those who can't imagine change reveal the deficits of their imaginations, not the difficulty of change. As Mandela put it, 'It always seems impossible until it's done.'"
Let's bring the tremendous resources of our government and creativity of our citizens to end much of the terror that plagues our society.
