Such complementary collaborations, however, are quite different from what is happening now. Perhaps universities have always been places to maintain the hegemony of the ruling elite. There is substantial evidence supporting this. However, if ever the ideal of universities as beacons of hope for those who care about healthy life systems and future generations can be realized, now it the time.
