The US Attorneys who claim responsibility for the assault on California's dispensaries have no credibility; the marching orders for this latest escalation for the abominable "War on Drugs" came directly from Eric Holder in a June 30th memorandum reversing the administration's previous statements with regard to law enforcement priorities.
The psychopathology of power is visibly at play here; politicians, prosecutors, pundits, and champions of the "FDA/DEA/Big Pharma"cartel are "taking care of business." They have no qualms about increasing the suffering of seriously ill patients, based on the dubious moral premise that all chemically based pleasure obtained by consuming substances other than alcohol and tobacco must be prevented, and punished regardless of the cost in human suffering.
We are witnessing the final stripping away of the thin veneer of compassion and civility that covered the ugly face of power. Bear witness, to the cheapening of life, to the point where delirious flag waving mobs cheer and make merriment at the notion of letting all who cannot pay, starve, suffer and die. Bear witness to US Attorneys complaining about "people making a ton of money" as protestors are beaten, subdued with chemical agents, shot with rubber bullets and arrested in the name of the right to profits.
I doubt I will live to see the day, but when the perpetrators of these obscenities are brought to justice, and given the fair trials they have denied to others. Confront them with the suffering they have caused, and do not allow "I was only obeying orders" to be a defense.
