The list providing examples of basic changes which are beyond the scope of democratic possibilities can be extended indefinitely.
Why?
Firstly, the generalization that our society is highly democratic is not true. The democracy we have is a political democracy as people choose politicians and not directors of banks or industries. Thus, we do not live in a democracy, but have a tradition of democracy in the West.
The real influence in society is more complicated and above all, it is convoluted, something we will therefore devote the rest of this chapter to.
