You can start by making a real contribution to renewable energy. Place 50% of company profits towards this goal, not the Mickey Mouse, token amounts that have been given so far.
Publish the Mud logs and e-logs, Company Man, Cement Company (Halliburton) and Mud man reports from the Deep Horizon Rig so the world can see what went wrong.
Publish the daily reports not just the final report which will try to exonerate those on the rig. I do not believe that BP is totally innocent. You hired Transocean after all. I also believe that companies like Transocean and Halliburton need to leave the shadows where they are skulking and come forward to shoulder the blame and take responsibility and help with the clean up in the new clean world to come. They may only do it to give lip service to the green movement, but eventually it will become a habit that they will like. And later, they will wonder how they were ever part of the evil of the oil-drug industry.
The oil industry is dead. Oil is poisonous or carcinogenic.
It will now take 10 to 20 years to die, but the death blow was the explosion and sinking of the Deep Water Horizon rig.
By the way, have you ever looked at the make up of the organic compounds in gasoline or petroleum apart from ethanol, they are all poisonous or carcinogenic. Individually they are known as toxic, carcinogenic organic compounds, such as compounds, like, Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl Benzene and Xylene. They get into our water, our foods, our animals and our plant life. They get stored in our fat cells. They basically sit there for 10 to 20 years destroying us, these two hundred or so compounds called oil, killing us slowly.
An Educated Man.
Now I know you are an educated man, because years ago when we chose geology to study at university, it was not for the money. It was for the beauty of crystallography, for geological relationships of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. It was for phase diagrams and for the chemistry of those relationships that brought on the "Aha" moments. It was for knowing the difference between pyroxene and olivine. And when you saw Kyanite, Andalusite or Sillimanite in the field, you knew what temperature and pressure regimes that rock had undergone. It was for understanding solar synthesis of the elements and the grand time scale of the billions of years that have gone before us. It was to give us perspective. It was to hold a 3.5 billion year rock in ones hand. We were the chosen ones. Those lucky enough to understand the complexities all around us and the inter relationships, when others only saw skin deep. We were lucky to be able to look at the big picture.
These shadow men did not come forward to help you in your time of need.
You know I do not know the other oil company CEO'S names. I also do not care to look them up. These shadow men did not come forward to help you in your time of need. They hoped that they would not be noticed and that BP would take all the blame. But those times have passed. The oil industry is to blame for the untold suffering that it causes in chemical harm, in the physical abuse of the drilling hands working under atrocious conditions on thousands of rigs across the world. You say you pay these people well. They are paid fifty to one hundred percent above other general labor, but at such a price to their health and psychological well being, you burn them up in five to ten years.
People are not disposable items. The world is not disposable.
There is no other planet in our solar system that we can hop across to, once this one is too toxic to live on.
Therefore step forward and be the man I know you are. Be the world leader. You are tall.
Make that change. The others will follow and the world will once again turn green.
