Silver successfully predicted the outcome in 49 of 50 states in 2008 elections and was subsequently named one of “The World’s 100 Most Influential People” by Time Magazine. His predictions for the 2016 presidential contest are broken down into three categories. Polls-only forecast – What polls alone tell us -- shows HRC winning 81.5% to 18.5%;; Polls-plus forecast – What polls, the economy and historical data tell us --shows little change with HRC taking 74.9% to 25.1%.; Now-cast – Who would win an election today-- shows Clinton annihilating Trump by a margin of 91.5% to 8.5%. Silver shows Hillary Clinton running away with the election, winning the popular vote by a margin of 48.1% to 42.6% with Libertarian Gary Johnson receiving approx. 7.9%.
