Prominent civil rights national and local leaders will join The National Commission for Voter Justice (NCVJ) for the Wisconsin Regional Hearing, which will be held online and in-person, on Saturday, July 21 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM CDT. This event will be livestreamed online via the NCVJ's Facebook page at Facebook.com/NationalCVJ.
John Nichols, associate editor of The Nation and national co-chair of the NCVJ, gives some background information in a stirring account of his state's political metamorphosis from blue to battleground.
"Gov. Scott Walker and his cronies have worked hard to tip the balance against competitive elections in Wisconsin—with extreme gerrymandering, restrictive voter ID requirements, schemes to limit early voting, and an assault on the independence and integrity of the former Government Accountability Board," writes Nichols.
