Cruz wins GOP presidential straw poll; Perry finishes fourth

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz won the Texas Republican Convention's presidential straw poll by a huge margin, with 43 percent of the vote. Gov. Rick Perry finished fourth with 11.7 percent, just behind U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, with 12.1 percent, and Dr. Ben Carson, a conservative activist and Fox News contributor, with 12.2 percent. Next up after Perry in the Texas balloting was former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, with 3.3 percent. His son, George P. Bush, is the GOP candidate for Texas land commissioner this year.
