In the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas, former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has announced that he will match every donation to Everytown for Gun Safety, a gun control advocacy group he founded in 2014. Created in 2014 by the merger of two Bloomberg-funded groups, Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Everytown for Gun Violence comprises a 501(c)(3) support fund and a 501(c)(4) action fund. The donations to be matched are to the (c)(4) fund and will be used to raise public awareness of gun violence, common-sense gun laws, and responsible gun ownership; pressure lawmakers to strengthen gun laws; and amplify the voices of survivors of gun violence.
