“This is my first year teaching in AZ Title 1 school, after moving from another state. I taught almost 20 years in a Title 1  public school.   I've never seen anything as dysfunctional and underfunded: the lack of resources in  is stupefying and confounding!  The  district is in dire straits as it is funneling money away from public schools into charters;  and that this “cheating” of public schools is the new-normal. It’s not that people don’t care about education, its  that most people who can, leave the poverty schools behind, do so, without realizing the impact this has.  The discipline problems and lack of support for teachers is driving parents and teachers away. Buildings are falling apart. Just today part of the roof caved in at the school library. And then the corruption in the state legislature is driving the drain of resources.”

In fact, a crack investigative team at the Arizona Republic won the prestigious George Polk Award for their fearless expose of charter school corruption in the state but there is not a shred of CCOUNTABILITY for the GRAND THEFT of taxpayer money into private pockets is ended

This post will make your head spin. Arkansas public schools in communities of color are taken over by the state, and charter schools open. One high-powered chain. spreads it's tentacles across the state, scooping up the best students. A rotating cast of characters plays musical chairs at the state board, the state education department, and superintendencies.

Here is a link to all the posts on Arizona, by Dr Ravitch former ass't Sec'y of State.

The state is not unique. public education will disappear in America unless we the people demand the funding be restored, and transparency restored.
