"Consumers and Citizens"
We are all "Consumers", but not all are "Citizens" not in the True sense of the word.
While Consumers are Individuals who succeed in various degrees in the needs and pleasures of daily living, in the pursuit of their own Happiness, the "Citizen" goes beyond this to the foundation and core of Our society to devote a portion of their lives to its maintenance and well-being. A True Citizen is a wise and caring nurturer of his or her nation. An essential part of its success and development.
Being a true Citizen involves much more than merely being born in a country. It takes real work to achieve this. The Citizen does this through dedication of time and energy to study his, or her, culture and then find ways to make corrections that helps their culture to evolve to a "higher" state.
While the Consumer finds no time for more meaningful pursuits outside of their daily lives, the Citizen wisely, caringly and strongly makes the decisions necessary to become a force for nation betterment and continuation. Participation. This is no easy thing. Never was, never will be. But, it is the worthiest of service to Creation and Creator.
It continuously includes and puts to good use, Our Highest Teachings and Ideas. Ours is a dark history, but Real Citizenship can bring Us into the Light of True Goodness"as it can be expressed in Our Finite Culture.
A True Citizen gives thought to, cares about and then practices the arts of degrees of selflessness through personal skills in self-discipline. They have made the choices in their lives that enable them to perform this high duty for their country.
It is unfortunate but True, that some do have better opportunities and personal skills, to become this "Great Participant" than others. But most could exercise this option to at least some degree. Most have a meaningful contribution to make. The stronger ones should help the weaker ones to achieve this collective national goal.
The individual victory of service to one's country should, ideally, surpass self-indulgence in all of us. Not totally, because self indulgence brings us the pleasures of life that make it seem so worth while. America has abundance of this. America is a Consumer Paradise. But it will devolve and disappear if We fail to improve in Our morality and ethics in service to Our Society.
True Citizenship is a hard path in life. But one that is worthy of the "Best We Can Be". Our Nation is worth this too. America was intended to always become More and Better too. Only then could America fulfill its sacred destiny, as a nation Of The People, For The People and By The People. In the second best form of government called "Direct Democracy".
I will give True Citizenship the opportunity to come from the best in me. Wont you?
I will take as good a look as I can at what is going on in Our society and Our government. I will make determinations of what I can do to make what I discover better. I will double check my understanding of my personal moral and ethical beliefs. Then I will act.
I will sign and write letters and petitions. I will donate what I can, of my prosperity, to that which proves its worth by its relationship to the problems I see and understand.
Is it good solution or a "band-aid"? I would not settle for the latter, unless I was reasonably sure that it was a good step in the "right" direction"for all of Us. I will speak to any who would listen, the truths that I discern and then really listen to them, as they respond with what they see.
I will not let personal pride get in the way of being able to compromise with the Reasonable and Just Majority Will, even though I may hold reservations about this collective opinion. I will be alert to the results of this National Position and be ready to raise the alarm if it begins to cause un-Just harm to those who do not deserve such.
I will not waste my time on the ones who do not care, (the Consumers), unless they are directly part of the problem. Though I would try to help them become More and Better and I do try to give Hope to those who are Hopeless.
I will endeavor to diminish the criminal elements of Our Society"of the "bottom" and the "top". Injustice is expressed at all levels of Our Human Construct and must be eradicated wherever it is discovered. The health of Our Nation depends on this.
True Citizenship emerges, with Loving Insight, Wisdom and a desire for Ones Society to Evolve"become Better and More.
Better in its Ways as Children Of God.
More in the collective results of the practice of Goodness.
