The really rich and powerful people are BUYING all those shares that have sunk to incredibly low values and still may go lower. For every seller there must be a buyer. When all economic bubbles burst the rich aristocracy takes advantage and buys, from company shares to real estate to commercial buildings to entire companies.
Capitalism is not dead, it is just continuing to operate to favor the plutocracy. If you think Barack Obama or anyone else has a magic bullet for fixing things to favor ordinary people you are just plain crazy.
