We ARE CONCERNED for our future generations...BUT!

Wally
Message Wally Petrovich

Why the careless societal attitude about our “future generations?”  that overrides our concerns, and we do have concerns, about what will happen to our kids and theirs when we are no longer on this earth?

Because such a seemingly selfish demeanor is acknowledged to be prevalent throughout society, it must logically be attributed to a single factor which we all share in common…, otherwise it would not be commonplace. An overriding compulsion for immediate survival naturally obviates any time which would be devoted to the “future.” survival in the present is paramount. Only those who have a relatively secure social position…, and this can only be achieved by attaining a financial condition which can be passed along to our kids and theirs…, can enjoy the knowledge that their immediate families will not be without needs and wants.

But when we consider the stark economic facts that that are explicitly and implicitly reported on sites such as CNNMoney.com, we can begin to understand how and why the general malaise most adults exhibit when the plight for future generations is laid before them… The most common response is, “I feel sorry for the next generations, what with the wars and the social problems we now have which never go away.”

It all boils down to , and is generated by the economic system we now use…, capitalism…, which divides us not only into economic and social classes, but within each class there is an internecine struggle to survive…, against the ever present competition which, among wage workers, is the fight for available jobs…, while for the capital investors…, the dominant, relatively few citizens who make up society’s capitalist class, the “struggle” is in making the profitable investments in the highly competitive domestic and global markets where often the competition leads to military confrontations in which entire societies are devastated by the losses in lives and wealth.

Such is the turbulent economic landscape upon which our lives are lived. Because most people are simply too busy and riddled with daily concerns about their own immediate life needs, it is no puzzlement that the plight of our future generations takes a back seat to our immediate survival needs?

Were we to transform this economy from one of private ownership of our necessary, socially operated industries…, socially operated, but privately owned and controlled for accumulation of profits for the relatively few capital owners, and in the process, determine a more rationale direction…, which is for the democratic operation of social production for society’s needs and wants…, a paramount requirement to building a society without poverty, joblessness and periodic warfare with other nations for our planet’s limited resources, …, our concerns for the well being of our future generations would be abated , and resolved, knowing that we, of the present generations, are bequeathing our necessary social institutions …, a government and an economy, both embedded with democratic principles, daily practiced, which will enable our kids and their’s to continue cooperatively producing their survival needs which are essential to all of Earth’s people. And the inevitable global cooperation, rather than the present economic and military confrontations will further provide for a lifetime of peace and related happiness.

That’s the goals of those of us who have declared our intentions from this address: http://www.peopleforanewsociety.org/
