Speculation on which presidential candidate will choose whom to be a heartbeat from the presidency has reached a fever pitch, and speculation also says that Barack Obama will announce his choice today or tomorrow.
Placing their bets, the press has nominated Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware; Tim Kaine, the governor of Virginia and the first governor to endorse Barack Obama; and Sen. Evan Bayh and former governor of Indiana as the leaders to win the questionably coveted prized second ballot position.
If those inquiring minds in the press corps really want to know in advance of the announcement who the pick will be and make a joint appearance with Obama, they should immediately go into the Follow Gary Hart Principle mode of operation.
Assign a reporter to stakeout and follow each man and see which one takes a plane, car, bus, train or taxi to wherever Obama is.
That should be more fun than writing serious, unsexy stories about hard-hitting important issues, and be a boon to the Sherlock Holmes costuming industry.
For me, I hope it's Biden, but I can wait for the announcement, because like most people, I don’t vote for the number two man.
