Three thoughts have rolled through my brain today with a pushy attitude that made me look in depth. I saw danger. As usual my outlook on the world condition turned bleak. Welcome to my nightmare. Welcome to the jungle.
First, if I was a high ranking official of a Nation other than the United States, I’m not sure that I would trust the US government. This Administration comes with a rogue band of treasonous warmongering imperialists who have betrayed the American people for their own personal gain. So were I engaged with American officials, I would wonder who else the American government would be willing to betray. Can they be trusted at all? Do they have a single iota of credibility? If I was “in charge,” I’d hope that I would recognize a wolf in sheep’s clothing when I saw one. Otherwise, the situation is really all a game of “no honor amongst thieves.”
Secondly, hundreds of thousands of people have perished and been injured in powerful natural disasters recently and no one around me seems to notice much. I wish we could collectively get over our “as long as it’s not happening to me” mentality. I am still astounded by our society’s prevalent lack of empathy and compassion while hypocritically claiming to be pious and righteous. Frankly, it just blows my mind. To err is human and we sure are human.
And last, I had recurring thoughts about a an article that I read a few days ago about a college student who was accused of terrorism by intimidating federal henchmen because he told the Boy Scouts for whom he was conducting a tour, that they should look into the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Patriot Act. When I read the story I was wearing my tattered, too old, not-so-black-anymore T-shirt that read “Save the Bill of Rights. www.ImpeachBush.org.” My next thought was of the sweeps, the gulag and favorite writers. Then I thought of liberty and real freedom. And then that rebel inside of me silently yelled out, “Long live the Constitution and Bill of Rights! Posse Comitias & Habeas Corpus too! ”
