The Obama administration will "save" us from the full horror of the Repug Budget Cuts. But it will allow a lot, maybe most, of it to go through.
Obama will then paint himself as "savior" of important social services and even, ridiculously, some Sesame Street puppets. Those who still buy into the "Democrats are better" bit of theater will then say, "at least Obama tried", or "he's better than the Repugs".
This trick worked so well during the Clinton administration, which got more right-wing policies through than Reagan and Papa Bush combined, that it's being employed again.
Isn't this one of the oldest tricks in the book? Ask for the stars and "settle for" the moon....the moon being just what you wanted in the first place. It's how vending has been done since the cave men.
We do not see the Democrat ("Party of the People") side pushing to take Three Giant Steps...say by a) prosecuting Bush administration criminals, b) prosecuting Wall Street criminals, c) ending military support for repressive regimes, including Israel, and then settling just for the Bush and Wall Street prosecutions in face of Repug complaints.
The Democrat branch of the Bizness-Uber-Alles Party is the "Good Cop", and the Repugs. the "Bad Cop"...both working together for the same anti-democratic authority. Any street-level shoplifter who's ever been arrested knows this routine. Voters, and citizens in general, haven't caught on. Too many distractions, perhaps.
