Then today on the news, I heard that Harmon Killebrew is giving up his fight against esophagal cancer.
And I remembered yelling at the Oakland Coliseum, in 1968 or so, "Harm One, Harmon!" (who was a Minnesota Twin), and I remember feeling sheepish when nobody in my Section even laughed.
No true baseball fan hearing the bad news about Killebrew is laughing now. Killebrew was a big baseball player, but not Kluszewski big. But Harmon was also very, very intelligent. I sure hope the big man's remaining days are filled with loving family and friends and memories of the Bigs. They broke the mold after they made Harmon Killebrew.
