For McCain a "Perfect Storm" of events emerge from the Black Sea.

ChrisIXXIVeritas
For John McBush a "Perfect Storm" of events emerge from the Black Sea.
The "Cold War" has been reanimated in the attempt not to save America, but to save the GOP.
The chosen champion John Mc Same, the GOP's Last Cold Warrior, receives a treasury trove of war policy events to suit his perceived strengths and our nations weakness, a "Red Dragon" of the old cold war has emerged for our old gray Knight to slay, just in time for the 2008 November elections. How convenient is that?
Since of the pseudo GOP 9-11 "heroes" have been exposed for the posers they are, being wrong at every turn, while lying to us every step of the way. Now long for us to trust the Neocon-wing of the republican party one last time, to save America from the perceived old cold war enemies?
They have resorted to push the old "Cold War" fears on us once again, with the Mean Stream Media Goose stepping right in-line.

John McCain 2008 - John McCain for President
From John McCain's web site: "God has created us and brought us to our present position of power and strength for some great purpose."  In his time, that purpose was to contain Communism and build the structures of peace and prosperity that could provide safe passage through the Cold War.  Now it is our turn.

Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

BBC: The Power Of Nightmares
This film explores the origins in the 1940s and 50s of Islamic Fundamentalism in the Middle East, and Neoconservatism in America, parallels between these movements, and their effect on the world today. From the introduction to Part 1: "Both [the Islamists and Neoconservatives] were idealists who were born out of the failure of the liberal dream to build a better world. And both had a very similar explanation for what caused that failure. These two groups have changed the world, but not in the way that either intended. Together, they created today's nightmare vision of a secret, organized evil that threatens the world. A fantasy that politicians then found restored their power and authority in a disillusioned age. And those with the darkest fears became the most powerful. " http://www.archive.org/details/ThePowerOfNightmares

GOP HYPOCRITE OF THE WEEK

John McCain

John McCain has taken great pains to establish himself as a war hero with wide and deep foreign policy experience. But when that expertise was tried by an international crisis in Georgia this week, the Senator's true colors were on display.

Though McCain's new policy on lobbyists forced Randy Scheunemann to take a leave of absence from his own lobbying firm, Orion, in May of this year, The Washington Post reported that the overlap between his work for Georgia and his work for McCain is significant.

Ethics advisers from all over the map are questioning Scheunemann's ability to offer McCain untainted advice about the country who has been signing checks to him for years.

It seems McCain is dragging the media along with him on this path of tortured logic. Writers for The Wall Street Journal, ABC and Time Magazine all agree that this eruption of violence is a boon for McCain's campaign, figuring that he is somehow still the foreign policy expert. In fact, Michael Kranish of The Boston Globe seems to say that McCain's lobbyist connection with Georgia is a plus!

The Lesson of Georgia: Bring Ukraine Into NATO
by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann

As we watched Russian tanks and planes attack yet another small neighbor, the world had to be reminded of Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Afghanistan, three other countries that had to watch their freedom crushed beneath tank treads. The blatant, outrageous and long-planned invasion of Georgia should make it clear to the United States and Europe that there is an urgent need to pre-empt further Russian expansionism by spreading the NATO umbrella more widely.

In Eastern Europe, Ukraine is the name of the game. With close to 50 million people, it is by far more populous and important than any other former Soviet republic or satellite. Russia, with a population of 142 million and dropping, needs to take over Ukraine to reassert itself as a global power.

Moscow is terrified that Ukraine will become part of the West. That's why Russian operatives poisoned democracy advocate Viktor Yushchenko, now the president of Ukraine, permanently scarring his face and almost killing him, and why Moscow refuses to extradite the agent responsible for the attack. And it is why the Kremlin tried to engineer the election of a pro-Russian puppet by cutting off gas supplies to Ukraine and then tripling the price it charged. The Ukrainians have voted again and again for democracy and ties to the West. Putin has tried repeatedly to force the nation back into the Russian orbit.

The clear implication of the invasion of Georgia is that Russia cannot be trusted to live in peace with its neighbors. The impetus to imperial conquest predated and has outlasted communism. As Henry Kissinger argues, Russia must either be expanding or contracting. With so many divergent and often hostile nationalities inside and around Russia,... READ MORE
