Navisite, Inc. has demonstrated a reckless disregard for the livelihoods of tens of thousands of American businesses by destroying a perfectly operating data center in Baltimore in an attempt to save money.
This has knocked approximately 500 small to medium sized commercial web hosting providers who collectively host and manage about 175,000 individual web sites.
The situation is an unmitigated disaster. I've run a hosting business using Alabanza as my wholesale provider for eight years. Over a hundred of my most important clients are hosted there. This rash and blundered attempt to move the datacenters with little or no notice to the affected parties borders on a criminal act. At the very least there will be tremendous liability for Navisite.
More to come.
