You can't make this stuff up...
Will you help me get the word out online - on the blogs and in other message and chat communities?

I know I've been sending you a lot of emails lately.  But, as you may have seen in the news there is a big battle happening in Congress and with the White House in regard to Medicare.  But one thing that I've found disappointing is that there really has not been much conversation online about it.  Not on the major blogs and not on too many message boards or other online gathering places.  As someone who has recently told us you have a blog or regularly read and comment on blogs I wanted to share this with you in the hopes you can help others see this news and perhaps help us in our effort to Keep Medicare Fair. I hope you might be able to help us start this conversation and let others know what is going on at this critical juncture in passing meaningful Medicare legislation.

You just can't make this stuff up...

Picture it...the Senate floor... another vote to Keep Medicare Fair... and a surprise voter walks through the door...

As the Senate prepared to vote once again to Keep Medicare Fair, Sen. Edward Kennedy returned to the Senate chamber for the first time since critical surgery for a malignant brain tumor to cast a crucial vote on a stalled Medicare bill opposed by the White House!

Greeted by cheers and thunderous applause, he was part of a bipartisan, 69-vote majority to pass the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008.

Amazing, right? It's almost got the makings of a Hollywood Blockbuster!!!

Why "almost"? Well, the story is still missing that final scene cliffhanger... And guess what? We just found it: President George W. Bush is threatening to veto this critical legislation!

In solidarity with millions of Americans that rely on Medicare, tell President Bush to Keep Medicare Fair by signing the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 into law TODAY!

The legislation that the Senate passed would:
o Ensure that Medicare patients continue to have access to care;
o Improve prevention coverage and services;
o Improve low-income protections; and
o Provide improved coverage for mental health services.

As you read this, President Bush is likely hearing from the same folks that worked against Medicare recipients and doctors in the Medicare program during the Keep Medicare Fair campaign. That's why he must hear from ALL OF US immediately!

Click here to tell President Bush to Keep Medicare Fair by signing the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 into law.

Once you have sent your urgent message to President Bush, please help us get more messages in to the White House by posting this email on your blog or website. Diary about it on any blogs you visit or paste this link in the comments - https://secure2.convio.net/aarp/site/Advocacy?id=167&pagename=homepage
.

We need to let everyone know that this legislation needs our support!

If you do blog about this issue or post on someone else's blog - can you send me a link?  I'd love to see it (positive OR negative postings are welcome).

Thank you in advance for your help in keeping the conversation going and letting people know about this critical issue. I know that together we can Keep Medicare Fair!

Sincerely,

Barry Jackson, Online Advocacy Manager
