We Are Stardust. We Are Golden and We've Got To Get Back to the Garden.... Giving Thanks for Joni Mitchell

By Rob Kall

visiting Joni Mitchell via youtube-- some of her hits, a new interview and a tribute to her.

I spent some time on this lazy Thanksgiving day viewing Joni Mitchell videos. They reignited old memories and brought a few chills and tears. I must say, I loved Joni back in the sixties and seventies.

This fall, Joni turned seventy. This little visit includes a few of her songs from the sixties, an interview with her this fall, after she turned 70-- damn she's smart-- a video of her doing jazz with Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorius, and finally a tribute to her done this summer. The tribute closes with Joni singing.

In her interview, done after the tribute,  she says she's done singing.

Here's her Wikipedia page, where it reports:
" Mitchell has deeply influenced fellow musicians in a diverse range of genres, and her work is highly respected by critics.  Allmusic  said, "When the dust settles, Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century,"  and  Rolling Stone  called her "one of the greatest songwriters ever." [  Her lyrics are noted for their developed poetics, addressing social and environmental ideals alongside personal feelings of romantic longing, confusion, disillusion, and joy. "

Thank you Joni. You've been an extraordinary singer, artist, thinker. You've brightened so many lives.
