...back in time to do more nothing, to block investigations of criminals, to keep the war going... to keep their super health care benefits... and what about that economy? that war? that tattered constitution? What about the fact the US is now rate as a high surveillance, low privacy nation?
Never mind, just pay attention to the dangling story of Brittany Spears, back and forth-- Bad Kevin, Bad Brittany, kidnapped children...
and you are going deeper, just watch... michael Jackson... siamese twins, the latest on Princess Di. Deeper, deeper...

Yep. The Nancy and Harry Show is back. Oh, McConnell and Boehner too.

It's hard to tell anymore who are the good guys.

Oh, that comment might get me banned or insulted by a hundred or more dailykos kossacks or democratic underground admins.

I can't help it. I'm thoroughly disgusted by Nancy Pelosi's impeachment off the table bullshit. Every day she blocks John Conyers from holding hearings she becomes more a party to the crimes Bush/Cheney and company have committed.

Then there's the war. The Dems are failing to even begin to take charge of the spin on the failure of the surge to do what it was supposed to do-- get some government stability and progress for the Iraqi leaders. It's not happening.

Instead, the right wing media and politicians are touting a huge lie-- the success of the surge. This is not surprising. Bush went to Iraq for one thing, defense against WMDs, and then morphed his reasons for going to one, then another, then another excuse. I don't even know what the most recent one is-- to prevent instability and murder of Iraqis-- because we made this mess?

So now, Bush and his rubberstamping congress and media are doing the same thing again, morphing and spinning the mission-- this time of the surge-- and claiming victory and success. Why haven't the democratic leaders learned to anticipate this so they can get out a prevailing message that the surge has failed miserably.

Oh, if asked, the Democratic presidential candidates will squirm and uncomfortably answer that the surge was supposed to change the functioning of the Iraqi government, blah, blah, blah. But they don't have a resounding message, a wall of spin to back them up, like the right wingers do. Why not? I'll tell you why. Failed leadership.

I like Howard Dean. He's the best DNC chair in a long time. But he is mired with the democratic national committee, made up of hundreds of backwards, DLC dem, almost republican, too old politicos many of whom are a major part of the problem. No vision, no courage to take stands, no whatever it takes to stand up for "we the people."

So Nancy Pelosi gets away with allowing bills to fund the war to hit the floor in the House. And Harry Ried continues to let similar war funding bills come up for votes, when both Harry and Nancy, if they had a handle on their leadership of the Dem party, would be effectively blocking any further war funding.

Because the war is a disaster and the hundreds of billions we have dumped into Iraq, flushed down the yellowcake threat toilet, are not available to help the US economy, we are threatened by an even deeper economic disaster, with a longer descent and more perilous recovery.

Associated Press reports,

When lawmakers left town last month for a winter break, they assumed the presidential voting in Iowa and New Hampshire would start giving shape and context to next fall's elections. So far, the opposite has happened.

House members returning this week feel less certain about the political landscape than when they left

Well, DUH!. They should be less certain and more confused. The Dems don't know who will be leading them. The Republicans now know they are in far worse shape. the AP article reports,

Republicans who were hoping that a Democratic ticket headed by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton would fire up their conservative base now must contemplate another possible Democratic nominee in Sen. Barack Obama.
