Last Thursday (March 13), the House passed its versions of the FY 2009 budget resolution. The House passed their spending outline on a mostly party-line vote 212 - 207. Sixteen Democrats in the House opposed the budget along with all Republicans. A few hours later after 15 hours of vote-a-rama, the Senate passed its own resolution, 51-44. The Senate rejected 47-52 a GOP proposal to extend the remaining tax cuts from 2003. |
