Diary: My Gullible Travels Through Googleland

Rhetoric is heating up. Messages smolder. A comment I read once on OEN was put there to tell the world he (or she?) had the correct slant on some now-forgotten hot topic. Why? Because he googled it!
YouTube or Rush Limbaugh? Take your pick. Two media giants, in their own way. This morning I read something which lead me to recall Bush's worst moment: You're either with us or you're against us. Even toddlers learn to recognize an "or else" gauntlet when it's laid down.
What I read this morning was Gary Kamiya's essay on the New Yorker's most outrageous magazine cover, and he said Limbaugh got it right. It likens Michelle Obama to Angela Davis. Remember her? Well, those who lived through the civil rights struggle and the anti-war movement of the Sixties do. It put Barack in white Muslim garb. It put the flag in a glowing fireplace. I don't have to say more, because by now everyone has probably seen that cartoon.
The point of Kamiya's essay is that the picture is satire against extremism. As was also true in the Danish cartoons, which Muslims couldn't "get." And Rush's point was that leftist bloggers have no sense of humor. I QuickLinked the salon.com article today. Before that, I QuickLinked some other messages, and also commented on others' comments. My first take was that the New Yorker isn't the magazine it was in the days of my Twenties. Then, they most likely lampooned my nemesis, Tricky Dick Nixon. I can still dig any negative I read about that man.
So if you feel hot under the collar and decide you're mad as h**l and aren't going to take it anymore, I suggest we all lend our efforts to outfoxing that old warrior, John McCain. If you don't agree with my change of heart, it's all right. And whatever you say will not offend as long as you let me say why I was madder than HEDoubleHockeySticks over Tricky Dick No. One--before we had Tricky Dick Cheney to kick around.
