or Why Dem-Republicans Think They Must Settle for Hillary & Rudy

Ron Paul and Arnold Schwarzenegger are two Republicans who have a lot of support outside of the Republican Party. Perhaps, even more support outside than inside the Republican party. Schwarzenegger's popularity means that many Republicans think they have to settle for Giuliani who is considered similar to him. However, morally conservative Republicans are threatening to quit being Republicans, if he gets the nomination. Hillary-care has interjected some of the changes and proposes Schwarzenegger made in California.

Ron Paul is also making changes. He is broadening the antiwar movement. He frequently dwells on Americans losing our freedoms. He is asking questions that other Republican candidates avoid and brings up the war and the possibility of the war leading to bankruptcy, subjects most Republicans candidates avoid. Meanwhile he is returning to old-fashioned definitions of the words honesty and integrity.

The peace movement, before Ron Paul, had to be politically correct. Praising gays, women, union workers and minimum wage at every antiwar rally. One couldn't believe that outlawing crack just encourages organized crime, without also believing or at least closely associate with those who believe that outlawing guns would have the opposite affect as if guns would not be profitably business for organized crime to make money on. At ecology pot-luck get-togethers, one had to feel guilty if one brought a piece of meat. Each cause had its own box and the so-called leaders had to fit in the most. To have gay inclinations, and yet worry about abortion left one isolated. Now, thanks to Ron Paul, there are less prefabricated boxes to belong to. Ron Paul is changing this from a red and blue country into a country with a patchwork of colors. Also, a fresh group of 18-year-olds are becoming interested in politics thanks to Ron Paul.

The Governor of California has provided a so-called "futuristic" vision of Republicanism (though the concept of "futurism" in the arts and science has traditionally had a harsh edge to it). Arnold Schwarzenegger hates pollution. He increased the gas tax and required expensive pollution-control-devices on old cars belonging to the poor, while gutting public transportation subsidies, making poor people in California oppose ecology. He mandates health insurance, but most must get it themselves. He actually invented the concept of people being forced to buy heath insurance with their own money. Once people were only forced to pay taxes, not told how to manage their life, with the possible exception of forced immunization. The poor, unless one of their parents is an illegal immigrant, get their premiums paid, or partly paid. The better off get tax credits. Thus illegal immigrants must commit a second crime, besides illegal entry, that of not giving themselves or their children insurance, encouraging them to instead leave California. This especially true with those fluent in English, and have been here since early childhood. New immigrants who don't know English or Yankee ways just stay quiet and out of sight in all Hispanic neighbors. USA Today, which rarely does detailed analysis, closely examined the problem, referred to it as "The Californian Recession" stating that, "even completely sealing the borders would have very little short term effect" on the Hispanics pouring "out of California into small town and rural USA."

Maybe I'm exaggerating, but it seems to me Schwarzenegger is pushing Hispanics toward the same position Gipsies and Jews were in Germany, in the early 30's.

The Reagan revolution pushed a slight majority of previously very progressive Catholics and Jews into the Republican party. "English Only" is chasing many Catholics back toward the Democrats. The two leading antiwar Republican senators, Chuck and Hagel and John Warner, announced that they are not seeking reelection. Some Blacks are resentful that they are now the third minority group behind the Hispanics, but not angry enough to become Republicans. If Black Republicans like Alan Keyes had made opposing immigration their central cause, it could have gotten some Blacks concerned about immigrants to vote Republican, but not the current critics of immigration who are chasing both Blacks and Hispanics away, as well as every American opposed to the war. Ron Paul's comments on immigration, though more low key, only slightly, separates himself from the other Republican trying to tighten the border and oppose any amnesty programs, but his opposition to the US impose oligarchical governments on Latin America gets him favorable reviews in some of the Hispanic press. Locally several article in El Hispano praised Ron Paul.

Third Parties in this country have not much more freedom then non-Marxist parties do in Cuba and Venezuela. There are many tricks and manipulations to prevent a Third Party from getting elected. In Pennsylvania, the Republican Party handed the PA Green Party some defective petitions. Now the entire Green Party, including the national figure Ralph Nader, who wasn't originally involved, are being hounded to face stiff fines. Heavy pressure and manipulations also gets directed at opposition parties in Venezuela. In the US, the war, plus the fact that many, including Asians find "English Only" offense, may lead to a situation where the Democratic majority will be so huge that the Republican Party would also be subjected to the ballot-access blocks that third parties already face in this country. Another one party country in this hemisphere to add to Cuba and Venezuela.

Ron Paul, even if you don't become President, please stop the Republican Party from becoming the party of ethnic hate. If 1/3 of the delegates in the national Republican convention are Ron Paul delegates (far less in a deadlocked convention) maybe they could turn the Republican Party back away from immigration as the central issue.

The only possible winning issue is if al Qaida attacks, but it depends on when and where al Qaida attacks. In India, when it seemed when things were moving permanently away from their direction they attacked crowded trains and funerals. However, one of al Qaida's goals is to convince the US that "it's all Israel's fault." Note Moussaoui's speeches during his 9/11 trial for being the alleged mastermind. And the anti-Jewish speech Daniel Pearl was forced to make after he was lured to Pakistan, before he was beheaded. An al Qaida attack designed to convince Americans that it's all Israel's fault (as a byproduct) could make several places in the South, where support for Israel is weak, and the often token Democratic opposition which (like with all token opposition candidates) usually have had no prior need to mention any controversial subjects like aid to Israel. This could mean the Democratic sweep could include state legislators in the South as well as in the rest of the country.

Schwarzenegger calls himself a pro-choice and pro-environment Republican. Many praise California's huge expenditures on stem cell research, but I wonder if, in Schwarznegger's mind, this could mean he wants to breed humans the right way, not the wrong way. His first act as Governor was to try to cut off all aid to the disabled. Could his eventual goal be licensing requirements for parenthood including some kind of parenting test similar to a drivers license with violators facing abortion and sometimes sterilization, if they repeatedly have a child they don't have a license to have, unless they leave California? Could the slight similarity between the image in Fascist Germany of Gipsies and Jews and the growing hostile image of Hispanics be intentionally planned by Schwarzenegger?

To back down a moment, before Schwarzenegger started changing things, and other jurisdictions began copying California, there was compulsory auto insurance, but no such thing as citizens being required to buy health insurance anywhere in the world. Michael Moor's "Sicko" movie has put Cuban health care in the limelight. This new emphasis on Cuba reminds people of the forced aids treatment and a mother having to fight really hard because she wanted to keep a down syndrome baby and the doctors disagreed. I wish legal experts would examine Schwarzenegger's proposed tough new plan and see if required heath care could conceivably include heath-care against a patient's wishes, conceivably even an abortion in extreme cases.

Schwarzenegger, thanks to the wisdom of our Constitutional Founders, can never become President. But somehow that gives him more power to change the Republican Party into a so-called pro-ecology party that hates public transportation, rather then Ron Paul's vision of returning the Republican Party to Goldwater or even the Founding Fathers.

Bin Laden has been inflaming the relationship between Christians, Hindu's and Muslims, and between Shiites and Sunnis too. Whether bin Laden getting Americans to argue over border security is intentionally, inflaming tension between Hispanics and non-Hispanics, Schwarzenegger with or without al Qaida's help is adding hatred for Hispanics to this mix.
