According to Sudeshna Sarkar of Indo-Asian News Service, Nepal's Moaists are now campaigning against Tibetan leader Dalai Lama.

This comes after the Communists' growing fear over China's interest in Nepal's political scence. They want to avoid anatgonizing Beijing.

Although Nepal is culturally very close to Tibetans and for long has provided refuge to number of Tibetan Bhuddhists monks and leaders, the Maoists now want that age old friendship to go away.

Maoist leader Pranchanda has said that his party will not favor re-opening Dalai Lama's office in Kathmandu, saying he does not want to displease China
