Tomorrow 2010

01-02-03-04-05-06-07-08-09,

Years of the 21st's first decade;

Progress arrested after 911, began to unwind

And reverence for honor started to fade.

O, cruel decade, Cruelty should be thy name,

Terror from there--and here--after towers came down;

Crushed courage, Constitution, nothing be the same,

When fear ends freedom, political terrorists to blame

Disasters after disaster, helpless, hopeless, or indifferently depraved,

Culminates in thousands of drownings, lives washed away;

Greed kills Trust, and buries Trust in a deep concrete grave;

Tombstone Wall Street steals jobs, homes and lives every day

And the poor are much poorer, middle class the new poor;

Life, Health and Death make the rich so much richer;

Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness behind a locked door,

Truth denied by self and media, all lies within that picture

Happy New Year, though it will be as was the old;

Hope if you will, soon Hope will be gone, too:

For the Nation--and all of us--will remain bought and sold,

Poor for AmeriCorps, and there's really nothing we can do.
