I recently tried to have this YouTube video of Ralph Nader making some very pointed criticisms of Obama, posted in the "Living, Science,..." column of "our very own" OpEdNews: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibsP6XN2dIo
The reply from the anonymous "editor" was as follows: "This quicklink links to an article that does not report or discuss anything that we consider new or from a different perspective."
I replied that if "new and different" was a bona fide criteria for accepting postings (even if this was true in this instance, which it of course is not), then 98% of the posts about President Bush would have also been refused.
OEN is one of the very few genuinely democratic and open news outlets around. But if they succumb to the same blind, partisan, poltical biases as the outlets they supposedly abhor, than this too will become just another pseudo "objective" platform for their own personal favorites, censoring any meaningful criticsms of anyone except their current flavor of the month.
And that would be a genuine shame.
Just as what Mr. Nader says about Mr. Obama, that we will have to all keep his feet to the fire if we want him to be a genuinely great President, holds just as true for all of the media outlets who have the potential of consciously or unconsciously, creating their own narrow, censoring agenda....
